Meadowbrook is a highly-successful and respected Primary School set within extensive grounds and surrounded by Berkshire countryside.
We use proven Montessori-based teaching methods, combined with a broad National Curriculum, to create an inspiring learning environment which educates, nurtures and values every child.
We work with our parents to create happy, motivated and kind children with high aspirations and an awareness of the world around them.
The aim of education should be to teach us how to think, rather than what to think. To improve our minds so as to enable us to think for ourselves, rather than to load the memory with the thoughts of other men.
Welcome to Meadowbrook School, a unique co-educational Primary School that provides an individualised academic education and puts your child at the heart of our practice.
For over 25 years we have provided an innovative hybrid education of Montessori practice combined with the National Curriculum, achieving the best of both worlds and enabling our graduates to gain places at some of the top schools in both the state and private sectors.
We cap class numbers to maintain a small school which ensures that our highly-experienced staff develop exceptional relationships with each child. We pride ourselves on offering tailored teaching which also works particularly well with dyslexic children, making us a viable alternative to many specialist schools.
We provide a wonderful outdoor environment to teach the children about the natural world and we are excited to be creating further covered outdoor learning, sport and creative areas plus forest school, wildlife trail, dipping pond, fire pit, sensory garden and chickens, managed by the childrens’ Chicken Management Group!
In addition to our Montessori-based ethos, the application of Positive Discipline© is unique to Meadowbrook. Our children are supported to become responsible, resilient and resourceful members of their community in a manner that is respectful and encouraging rather than punitive or demoralising. We believe that like adults, children do better when they feel better.
As a school, we are part of the Independent Schools Association (ISA) which represents the Heads of over 370 of the UK’s best independent schools. ISA works closely with us to promote excellence in education. Our staff benefit from ISA’s high-quality training opportunities whilst pupils enjoy an extensive programme of local and national sporting, artistic and cultural events.
Please do get in touch if you would like to visit and see for yourself what Meadowbrook has to offer. We value meeting each prospective parent and pupil on an individual basis and the children and I would be delighted to welcome you personally.

‘My first school was really noisy and everyone shouted. I was in such a big class with so many children and the teachers seemed cross all the time. After a while I just didn’t like going to school.
I went to see Meadowbrook and I remember walking in and it was calm and quiet and it felt like heaven! Everyone was relaxed and really nice and I made friends easily.
It’s a really fun school – the teachers want you to enjoy learning and they make it really enjoyable.
Set within six acres of Berkshire countryside with a woodland trail for the children to enjoy, Meadowbrook’s success is rooted in understanding the individual needs of each child and providing them with an enjoyable and stimulating bespoke curriculum.
The School aims to provide highly-effective tailor-made education designed specifically to suit those needs.
It is a deliberately small school, enabling close relationships between children, staff and parents. Staff specialise in delivering a unique personalised approach that not only aims to maximise children’s potential (creating wonderful memories in the process) but also prepares them for successful transition to a wide range of selective and non-selective secondary schools.
‘The school has served my children and our family extraordinarily well. The students’ behaviour and expectations are consistently high across all of the classes. My children absorbed the positive ethos of the school so quickly that our whole family was surprised! Academically, each of them has been stretched and emotionally nurtured according to their individual needs. Having graduated, they went on to secondary school well-prepared and are both doing extremely well.’
